Staff at the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower is adding to the special evening Tuesday on the courthouse square.
Along with the weekly farmers market and supper served by Spare Time Lanes from 4 to 6:30 pm, and a concert by the Town and Country at 6 pm, the bell tower will be open from 4 to 6 pm, with the elevator ride to the top at a reduced cost of $1 for adults. As always, children 18 and younger can ride the elevator at no charge.
Visitors to the lobby at the bell tower can see and purchase new souvenirs available this year – magnets, key tags, tower T-shirts, postcards, wine and shot g
lasses, and Mahanay bell tower/courthouse snow globes.
The bell tower will be open daily from 10 am to 4 pm until Labor Day, and then weekends in September and October. (There is no better view of the harvest than from the top of the tower!) Additional hours can be arranged by calling the Greene County Chamber of Commerce office at 515-386-2155.
“What a great way to see Jefferson and Greene County looking as green as it ever has!” said bell tower volunteer coordinator Pat Richard.+
